I have the 2017 gas version of this Smart and love the car. 70 mile range is just too small for me to consider the electric version. The battery technology will have to improve and at least double the range before I consider an electric version.

You might benefit a tenth if you lightly power break it before launch. I get around 9.5 in EV mode with a full tank ... haven't done a hold mode test, but from everything I've seen - you may be the exception for being a tick faster in hold mode. In mountain mode on mine it's actually slower to 60, BUT to enter mountain mode, you have to be down to ~16 miles of battery range before it kicks in. Volt performance on the highway has always been unpredictable. Sometimes if you're cruising along and hit the accelerator, it seems like it doesn't let the second EV motor engage 'cause it thinks you just want to take it easy? (not fun if there's a car already in the left lane going faster than you) ... if you pre-empt by slightly pumping the accelerator pedal prior to passing, then (most of the time) it will engage both EV motors and might even pleasantly surprise you. The nice thing about the Volt at high altitude? While ICE NA cars lose ~4% of their horse power for every 1000 feet of elevation, the Volt is exactly the same. SO you can be just as quick as vehicles that do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds at sea level. I would really like to know exactly what the ELR does with the same drivetrain to be a second or two quicker (with MORE weight!).

I mount mine above my inspection sticker with my parking barcode sticker that is above it completely blocks the view of it. And I have the wiring going through the dashboard so there's no way you can see it from the outside. And the stickers do not affect the performance. I have yet encountered any police with RDD's.

Would you recommend getting this over the normal Prius hybrid ?

My Prius is a year younger so it gives me 2 more extra miles. Been driving it in pure EV mode since the engine died. Still drives pretty good, but I'm going to trade her as soon as I'm able.

I own a 10yr old / 100000km plugin Prius and I LOVE the car. I've had it for two years, and I get 2.5L per 100km on average (94 mpg, according to Google). Only real downside (beside the battery that I wish would be bigger) is the lack of heating in EV mode. Oh well. Hi from the Netherlands!

Is there any particular reasons why on a full complete charge on my 2015 volt on the dash it would 25 ml , 26ml , 28ml , 30ml , 31ml , and 1 time it said 46ml mind you these are all on a complete full charge my question is is it something wrong with my batteries i use the original charger 120v at a 12amp..and to me it seems like the battery life doesn't last as long as i thought any suggestions (help)!

I'm 4 years late, but the button missing on ther steering wheel is the heated steering wheel. At least on mine. I miss the adaptive cruise control, that's a must.
